The 7 Portes Collection of Historical Recipe Books of Catalan Cuisine is the result of rigorous research into the roots and evolution of Catalan gastronomic culture over the last 7 centuries, through the study of its recipe books, its economic environment and social and its culinary content.


The publication of recipe books from the 14th century to the 20th century aims not only to contribute to knowledge, but also and, mainly, to make available to everyone, in collection format, a series of extraordinary recipes, which reflect the evolution gastronomic, culinary and food in Catalonia.

To date we have studied and published 8 recipe books ranging from the 14th century to the end of the 18th century; 2 more will be released very soon, and the next 4 titles are being worked on for publication in 2024 and 2025.


The project has the support of the “La Caixa” Foundation and the collaboration of Editorial Barcino, and the participation of a group of renowned researchers in the field of history, philology and food.
